Soori Highline is a luxury residential construction near the north end of the Highline park with dramatic double height spaces and private swimming pools looming over the street like a regal palazzo. The facade is a double-story curtain wall with exterior horizontal and vertical fins, each clad in a rust-colored wood. We provided Design Assistance and Construction Administration for the facade and glass elements, developing all details. The project was a challenge for the sheer size of the facade panels, which required specialty engineering to address applied winds on the exterior fins. Moreover, we had to develop systems for all four different exterior wall types to weave together unitized curtain wall, stick-built, punched windows, and storefront into an imperceptible whole.
