Vaulted Willow
Vaulted Willow is a vaulted structure composed of two-directional catenary curves. The project was commissioned by The Edmonton Arts Council in 2014 to be be a permanent installation for the public within the park. The architectural folly explores lightweight shell structures as a single unified stable geometry. It is assembled using a “shingled” approach, riveting together each custom fabricated piece with rivets as they lap one another. The sculpture is designed to withstand snow, ice, and wind to Canadian building codes.
