DS8 Canary Wharf
London’s DS8 western glass façade in Canary Wharf is designed as a cable wall where vertical tension elements span in between thin horizontal trusses to form an all-glass wall with integrated cut-out geometric cone, forming an elegant entrance area for the multi-use building complex. Towards the ground, additional local floating yokes were created to safely pass cable forces around the all-glass revolvers and exit doors.
Will Laufs performed structural detail calculation review, site quality controls including 1:1 cable post-failure testing and stainless steel casting friction grip tests to determine available attachment capacity to the cables.
