The Dream Hotel is a small boutique affair just removed from the bustle of Times Square. Our project was to assist with making their new marquee over the lobby entrance. Furthering the design, we constructed computational models to optimize the doubly-curved geometry, to fabricate the frame and to insert glass into the canopy. In an effort to keep the marquee and its immediate context visually pure, we built the drainage pipes for rain runoff into the frame and wall. LED lighting provided signage and branding, making it an eye catching emblem on an unassuming, relatively narrow, street.
