Glass Brick Bulkhead at Pierhouse
For the access stair to the rooftop amenity space, LED was brought in at an early stage to develop the concept of glass-brick masonry and to develop it together with manufactures to fabricate bricks that could handle the design loads. On top of the glass-brick walls is a glass skylight with small fittings holding it in place. The final product is an experiential lantern: one that during the day creates a soft glow to the interior space, and at night shines brightly on the rooftop.
